Pink Cosmo

Products Used: Paper by DCWV Rockstar Collection Mat Stack and 8x8 pages. The sentiment and digi were a freebie pack but I'm not remembering where from. I printed the tag onto brown card stock and used a shiny ribbon from my stash. The image was painted with water colors and the olives and circle were bling-ed out with diamond dust. The Papers were all distressed with the x-acto blade.

It's not easy for me to stick with ONE color when I am scrapping - especially when making cards. I saw the Paper Romance challenge blog had a "pink and bling" challenge and right away thought of my mom! She LOVES pink.. it's her favorite color. She even loves drinking the bright pink cosmos when were out because of their gorgeous color :)

I wanted to make her a card before I left and jumped on this opportunity... especially once I found these digi's!! hehee

Here is a close up of the bling-ed out circle, olives, and paper:
Challenges Entered:
Friday Sketch - Sketch (This was AWESOME!!)
Fab N Funky - fav color(s) (Used my mom's fav since it's her card - PINK!)
Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs - Distressing (used on all paper edges)
Paper Romance Challenge Blog - Pink and Bling (Tons of PINK and bling on olives, paper, and circle)

Sending Bear Hugs!

Products Used: Paper by Basicgrey and Making memories. Pearls by Zva Creative. Flowers were in my stash which I added small buttons and diamond dust. Paper Lace was created using flower border punch by Martha Stewart. The Sentiment was a freebie from Raindrop Echo Designs and the bear was a freebie from Wendy Made. Charm was printed using a Kraft color paper and the image was colored with art colored pencils.

This card will be another Thank You card for the ladies in the office ... It's Wednesday morning and I only have two done! YIKES!

I followed a color combination of Kraft, yellow, and white for this card as well as a sketch and recipe!! I think that is the hardest three things to incorporate as they all limit my choices so much!! But I am looking at the card now and really liking the way it turned out - it looks so classy and pretty. This is going to be great for one particular woman in the office who has the personality and character to match the beauty of this card!

Challenges entered:
Design Dollies - Kraft, White, and Yellow (tough but accomplished)
Basicgrey Challenges - Pearls (under the flowers)
Paper Play - 2DPs, 3flowers, 1ribbon, 1charm - (Again, tough but I did it!!)

It's a girl thing!

Products Used: Martha Stewart star edge punch, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Peeled Paint, Papers by Creative Memories, We R Memory Keepers (White Out Collection), and Sassafras (Sweet Marmalade Collection), Stamp is 80s Kaylee by Some Odd Girl, and the butterfly and gems are from my stash.

This post feels a little rushed this morning since it's going to be a BUSY BUSY day, and I have to get moving to leave within the hour :)

I made this card... well I'm not really sure what it will become. But I just won this stamp off the Fab N Funky challenge from last week and I LOVED it so much I just HAD to use it!! It's a digi and what's neat about digis is being able to resize them to any size I want. I will def be playing around with that feature this weekend :)

A couple challenges out there are using your "favorites" this week as inspiration. My favorites change along with my mood (so pretty constant hehehe). I have always loved stars - a little obsessed - and I really enjoy teal and lime green this summer.

I edged all my papers in Tim Holtz lime green peeled paint distress ink and used a lot of bright colors to go along with 80s Kaylee being all dressed up in her outfit. The card is so fun and girly that I feel it'll make a good teen b-day card some day. Who knows.

***BLOG CANDY ALERT***
There is some blog candy over at A Thousand Sheets blog. And she is actually giving away a THOUSAND SHEETS OF PAPER!! hahaha, there are even pictures!! Go check it out HERE.

Hangin'

WOW! It's been WAY too long since I've gotten to scrap... thanks to my last two weeks before the move I picked up CRAZY hours at work and all my other free time is spent with EVERYONE I know so they can get last minute time with me. No complaints though :) I'm having a BLAST! But it's good-old friday meaning no work and all day to scrap. Plus tonight going to Olive Garden with my family for dinner - yummmm.

First, before I get on to my newest LO, I would like to mention some delicious stuff going on out in the blog world
1. Imaginisce blog is giving away an AWESOME prize over at their blog. Check it out HERE! The best part is there are MULTIPLE ways to win, and this is my third entry!! :)

2. Cathy is giving away an awesome candy. Enter to win by going HERE. This candy has products from the secret crafter and Instyle Stamps.

3. Simon Says stamp is also giving away some Trinket Pins, yummy!!

And now onto my LO for the morning :)
Here is one I did for a picture of my closest friends and I enjoying a fun summer day with volleyball and BBQ!

Products Used: Papers are from Bella Bella by Carina Gardener, Creative Memories, and Colorbok. The butterflies were made using the 3D butterfly tutorial I've shared before with my martha stewart butterfly punch and some shiny paper and acetate. The letters are by BoBunny - Love Bandit combo sticker sheet. I made the purple crystal swirls with acetate and puffy paint. The banner was also hand made by cutting triangles into purple scraps and stitching some shiny thread through the edges.

Here is a close up of the butterflies and purple sparkly swirl (above)

(Below) A close up of the very simple banner I created.

The LO turned out very simple, but I have a tough time following simple sketches. I tend to add so many embellies and papers to my LOs, that it was nice to make something so different from my usual. I am satisfied with the final product :)

Challenges entered:
The Scraproom blog - Elements that POP! (butterflies and banner)
Design Dollies: Element 1 for August - Friends! (my awesome picture)
Design Dollies: Sketch Challenge (tough but I did it!)
Design Dollies: Color Challenge - Olive Green, Cream, Purple (PURPLE!? I actually had a tough time finding purple in my stash... weird huh!?)

Thanks for looking :)

July 4th

Products Used: Paper by We R Memory Keepers - White out collection in Frenzy, The star paper is from my stash and I don't remember who made it, Letters by Deja Views, Lace was made with white paper and a Martha Stewart punch, I made the sparkly green crystal swirls with puffy paint and acetate.

Here is a close up of the sparkly green crystal swirl and the letters I layered over top with mounting squares. I fussy cut the frenzy paper to get the circle of flowers and squares.

Here is another close up. You can see the lace I made with the border punch and the fun letters by Deja Views. The rest of my title - "QUEEN" - is done the same as the above part.

The colors were really pulled from the dress my one friend is wearing - the one in the middle. She had that gorgeous embroidered flower pattern with the bright teals, yellows, and greens. As soon as I pulled out this picture I knew I wanted to use the frenzy page :) It matches so well and kind of gets away from the original "red, white, and blue" of July 4th LOs. I loved this picture soooo much. It was a beautiful sunny day on a river boat cruise. Once we were done filling our bellies with delicious food, and slowed down on our wine consumption - hehehehe - the boat pulled right under the line of fire for the fireworks!! We got to see the whole show from the boat's roof top :) It was absolutely wonderful! Plus I got to spend the evening with the greatest girls in my life!

Girl Friends

Products Used
Papers: We R Memory Keepers - White out collection - Nonsense Zig Zag, Recollections - Friends Forever Collection - My Clique, and Bella Bella by Carina Gardner
Stamps/Inks: Stampendous - Mini Paisley Texture Cube, Hampton Art - Beautiful Butterfly, Tim Holtz distress ink - Broken china and Walnut Stain, Staz On - purple, and Color box - lime green.
Punches: Martha Stewert - butterfly and simple scallope.
Embellies: Sentiment by Creative Memories, crystal swirls handmade with glitter glue, Twinklets Diamond Dust, and gems by me&my big ideas and Bead Party.

This is a semi long post due to the massive amounts of pictures since this LO has a TON of detail ... so hang in there!!

I did this LO of a picture from a couple months ago at a local festival for a town we grew up in (we being the two girls in the picture hehehe). This is my BEST FRIEND. We literally have known each other since the first day of kindergarden :) Which is why I was soooo excited about the paper being from the Friends Forever collection!!

Here (ABOVE) is a close up of the sentiment from Creative Memories. You can also see the Diamond Dust, distressing, and circle border I created. I stamped the circles with Broken China by Tim Holtz then stamped mini paisley all over the one side, that way when I folded the edges the bright blue peaks in to match with the teal in the paper :) There is a tutorial, HERE, to show you how to do the circle border - it's SUPER easy and looks really neat on LOs.

Below is another close up of the circle border that shows the inking better. You can also see the butterfly (a previous post had the tutorial on it on how to make the 3D butterfly) and the butterflies I did with the martha stewart punch. I just added gems and made crystal swirls using my silver glitter glue and acetate. Now the butterflies have more of a "flying" effect. The border made with Martha Stewart's simple scallop is shown nicely in the picture too - it's so simple but becoming one of my faves very quickly!!

The final picture for this post - yes promise your coming to the end! :) - is of the butterfly in the top corner of the page, I feel like this was a nice picture to add since the butterfly was in a good light spot and the crystal swirl seems to sparkle!

I added a touch of purple to the paper BEFORE I stamped the lime green butterfly. This is the only one I did like that, the other two butterflies in green are just solid green, but this one turned out to have a neat tie-dye effect that blends all the colors on this LO beautifully!! I liked the effect so much that you can bet I'll be experimenting with more color combinations in the future

Well that completes this LO!! Hope you enjoyed it as much as I do!! I can't WAIT for my girlfriend to see it - I think she'll be floored :)

Rock Concert!

Even though I post A LOT of cards, I did delve into scrap booking about 5 1/2 yrs ago. I did a scrap book that was four years in the making to document my entire college experience. Though it was A TON of work, I really enjoyed having it after I graduated to look back on all the dumb stuff I did with my friends during those AMAZING four years :)

I have since been working on two scrapbooks: 1 for my sister-in-law as a baby gift for my future niece/nephew and 1 of my summer since graduating and before graduate school starts (and my big move 6 hours south!!)

I have been making SO many cards this summer with all the cool competitions I have had the opportunity to enter, that I have gotten quite behind in my LO's of the summer :)

Well Sundays are AWESOME b/c I get to sleep in - I actually slept till 8am!! hehehehe, WHAT!? I'm a morning person :) Can't help it. Anyways, the house is empty except for the dog and I which means turn on some music and scrap away!! (Then out for girl's night, yay!!)

So today I went back a couple months to a picture that was taken of my FABULOUS girlfriends and I at a concert. I love this picture b/c of LOVE LOVE LOVE my girlies plus the colors are so bright!

Products Used: Creative Memories black alphas in Swirly, Papers by DCWV - The Rock Star Stack, Creative Memories Make a Wish collection, and other papers from my stash that I no longer remember who made them :/, Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Broken China (quickly becoming my fav distress ink), and Silver Marker extra fine point by Pilot.

Below is a close up of the Rock Star page I did some fussy cutting technique on. I used a pair of scissors to cut passed all the blue and cut out the guitar. Then I took my x-acto blade and cut out all the middle pieces to really leave behind mostly just the foil work. I loved the way this turned out and that it cascades over the picture.

Here is another close up of the bottom part of the LO. You can see the awesome alphas by Creative Memories, and the way the Pilot marker turns out sooooo sparkly!! (Or maybe this picture doesn't show it that well - but in person it looks GREAT) I also cut out all these stars by hand - so they're all a little different - and attached them with mounting squares to give the LO dimension. The blue paper is folded to give it a pleated look and more dimension added to the LO. I distressed the edges with the x-acto blade and inked the pleats and edges with Broken China distress ink for more blue color.
Thanks for taking a look! I love the final look, I think it turned out so bright and cheery, which really captures the day we had in the picture :)

I got dotty!

Products Used: The image is a digi called Flopsy from Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs, the Sentiment is a digi from Create with TLC, Paper comes from Pressed Petals Dogs and Cats collection and Mocha collection, the bow is from a girl's pack by Recollections, the button paper clip is also by Recollections, I colored Flopsy with a set of colored pencils and made the green sparkle crystal swirl with acetate and puffy paint. The edges are inked with Tim Holtz Distress inks in Broken china and Antique linen. The edges were frayed used my x-acto blade.

I took a close up of the swirls since the above picture doesn't show the sparkles very well. You can also see all the glitter in the dots on the stitched paper.

I really liked the way this card turned out. I followed a sketch for the overall design though I changed around some elements. I also was only allowed to use two embellies for a challenge going on over at Crafty Sentiment Digital Design's blog. How TOUGH!

This card is entered in the following challenges:
Party Time Tuesday - Anything goes (SIMPLE!)
Sketch and Stash - Jill's sketch + new item (my new item is the paper - just picked it up yesterday!! Wahoo)
Fab and Funky - buttons and bows (button on the paper clip and bow on Flopsy's ear)
Simon Says Stamp! - Dotty (on my new paper)
Crafty Sentiment Digital Designs - 2 embellies (plus entered twice if use one of their stamps - yay for adorable Flopsy)
Paper Play Challenges - Anything (Well that's easy - plus you can enter twice with two different creations!)

Hope you enjoyed!! Now I have another birthday card for my birthday tab!! Yay!! It's really filling up :)

Card, Tutorials, and challenges!

I have been BUSY these past few days since I have posted last - and I'm not talking about moving! I have found some GREAT blogs with a TON of tutorials that I have been trying out and LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! I have been working on the same card for three days straight b/c I have re-done every little detail until I was satisfied. And I am! here's what I have been up too:

Products Used: Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Broken china and Antique linen, Diamond Dust, Royal Blue puffy paint, Martha Stewart's floral lace edge punch, Papers are basicgrey's offbeat collection and Bella Bella by Carina Gardener, The sentiment is from a rub on set by Kelly Panacci, The words covering the bottom paper are stamped using Friendship Writing by Hero Arts, butterfly was made by using the Beautiful Butterfly stamp by Hampton Art, Flowers were in my stash and I pinned them on using glitter brads by We R Memory Keepers, the stamp was a freebie from Sliekje digi stamps, lastly I stiched around the image using Cutter Bee piercing bugs.

Oh where to start!? There is SO much to talk about with this one!! But as usual I will start out by saying that this card will go in the celebration tab of my card box. I don't know the gender of the newest niece/nephew that's coming my way, but with the big move coming up I want to be prepared for either - so another card to come soon (hopefully!) hehee

I was browsing around some blogs looking at tutorials to take a stab at some new and fun techniques, but I hit a gold mine at Angelica's Scrappenings. She has a way to save money in all these creative ways!! (More links to specific techniques coming!!)

For this card I followed a sketch going on over at the Paper Take Weekly Challenge. I really enjoyed this sketch and am saving it to my desktop for future uses!

The butterfly I made is called 3D butterfly and can be found HERE. I have really been getting into using butterflies and flowers lately, and it ends up adding up by going to my local craft store to keep buying them. I have shown you flowers I have created by hand - there are sooooo many tutorials out there to make handmade flowers and they're so simple! Well now this butterfly can be added to my bag of tricks and it pops off the page so beautifully that it looks like it's just going to fly away - stunning!

I also followed another tutorial to make my own crystal swirls - click HERE to go to the tutorial. I will be using crystal swirls on EVERYTHING now! It's soooo easy to do and you can resize your image to fit any project - LO or card. I also love that I can make them any color. I did royal blue here with some puffy paint I had in my stash. Odd enough, when my grandmother gave me this huge bucket of paints I was thinking I will never have a use for these - well tada! I have a use!! And they will be USED big time. I scanned all my swirls and saved them as word documents - so I have an entire stash of them at my disposal! Try it out - you'll be hooked!

This is my first time using Diamond Dust, and OH BOY! I love love love this stuff! (not the clean up part though, hahaha) I used Aleene's tacky glue and a paint brush to outline the rectangle's and then dipped them into the dust and WOW! This stuff makes any piece of paper just STUNNING! I enjoyed using it and have a feeling I will be putting it on EVERYTHING! heehee, it's pretty addicting :)

Another cool thing I got from Angelica's blog was a way to make your own glue dots! Yes, really! After a very sad trip to my local craft store with only ten bucks and eyes taking in everything in the store, I realized a graduate student's budget isn't meant for a crafter like me. hehee. But I am one to cut corners where ever I can, and I new that I would figure something out. And then I found this tutorial. I just had to pick up the Aleene's glue and WOW... it really does work! I found a ton of sticker sheets that were half used in my stash, and I just cut off the halves that weren't being used. I dotted away and let them dry over night. This morning I peeled one off and it comes off without hardly trying! And they are sooooo sticky! Please please please give this a try! It's simple and I promise you it works sooooo well. Plus you can get a lot of glue dots - and any size you want - without paying for those expensive glue dot boxes in the different sizes from the store.

Ok, I think this post is getting pretty long so I'll end it here. But don't fret! I have soooo many more fun tutorials to try and I'll post them here once I do!! You're going to love the new things I've discovered!

Challenges I'm entering this card into:
Crafty Sentiments Digital Delights - 3 design papers (I used two as rectangles- one horizontal under the image mostly, and the other verticle under the butterfly and swirl, the third I turned into the lace and the butterfly has that same paper)
All Sorts Challenge Blog - Baby/child (I used the little boy stamp)
Paper Play Challenges - Blue, Cream, +1 (my plus one was brown - can you tell? hehee)
Totally Gorjuss - Congrats! (I added the sentiment right under the image)
Stamp Something - Flowery (I added the baby blue flowers, the lace has small floral detail, and the butterfly also has small floral details in it)
Wild Orchid - Lovely Lace (I used paper lace)
Stamp and Create - Stitching (I stitched all four sides of my image)
Paper Take Weekly - Sketch (I also mentioned this above)
Design Dollies - Element week 4 - Recipe: Baby Blue (got it!), Ink (I inked all the edges of EVERY paper with Tim Holtz distress inks, inked the butterfly and flowers, and inked the back ground paper with a friendship stamp), Masking (I tried my first attempt on the background paper, it's mostly covered up and you only can see bits of it. I wasn't too thrilled with my first attempt, but I'll definitely keep trying), Newspaper/Words (I used the large friendship stamp to cover the entire cream paper with blue writing), and Stripes (I have striped paper).

Hope you enjoy all these links and try out these techniques if you haven't already!

**SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!**
Craft Your Days Away - an AMAZING blog - is having a blog candy!!
They have three prizes for three lucky winners - go check them out :)

I'm in a COLORFUL mood today, which explains all the colored font hehee :) I followed a sketch from the Creative Card Crew blog... oooo it was a good one!

And here is my take on it!

Products Used: Papers are from the Bella Bella collection by Carina Gardner, Sentiment is a sticker from a swatch of sentiments by Marcella by K, The image is a digi called "At the moon" which I don't remember who from :( , The butterflies and flowers are from the EcoModern collection by K & Company, and I finished the look with mounting squares.

There are SO many fun challenges this week!! I can't believe how many I am excited to create for!!
I made this card to b a "miss you" card, who knows who will be the lucky person to receive it, but I know there will be a TON of people to miss once August comes and I make my way 6 hours south of "home".

I didn't have any ribbon that I felt went perfect with this card, so I made my own! I even cut the cute little "holes" into it to make it look like a belt buckle! I added the stitching to give it a more "ribbon" look.

Here's a close up:
Challenges Entered:
1. Crafty Sentiment Digital Designs - Color scheme: Brown, Green, Yellow
2. Cupcake Craft - "cats and dogs"
3. Creative Card Crew - sketch
4. Stamp and Create - "Stitching" (one entry per week till Aug. 2nd)

YAY for digi's!!!

Products Used: Fairy Doodle stamp, SNF Confidence quote digi, Martha Stewart star edge punch, flowers were in my stash and I added the pearls by Recollections, Tim Holtz distress inks in: Walnut Stain, Broken china, antique linen, and tea dye, and the paper is from a black and white collection by Making Memories I bought a year ago.

This was my FIRST attempt at painting an image with distress inks. I really am pleased with the "edgy messy" look it makes. I feel like this painting technique really adds character to this card. I am just LOVING it :) I'm very pleased.

I made this card to go into the "inspirational" section of my card box. I really want to make more. I found the digi quote through the free digi blog which links you to all sorts of blogs that are posting free digis!! I got a whole set of them collecting in a file on my computer. I figure with graduate school coming up these next two years there will be PLE NTY of opportunities to give the girls and maybe even a professor or two a little pick me up before a very stressful exam or during just a tuff week. :) I'm so excited to get a collection of these cards made up!!

I am entering this into the following challenges:
1. Stamp Something - use a digi! (how easy is that, yay!)
2. Some Odd Girl - Spots, Stripes, and BIG TITLE (idk if my "YOU'RE RIGHT" counts or not... but it's big for me in terms of what I normally put on a card.. idk)
3. Just Magnolia - Bev's sketch (unfortunately I followed the sketch but I don't own any Magnolia stamps - Christmas gift idea to my family!! But I'll include it here anyway since I LOVED LOVED LOVED this sketch!!)

PARTY ON!

Products Used: Sentiment is by Colorbok - paper crush edition, Flower made from pieces in the Paper whimsies packet by sassafras, Brads used: Recollections Metallic Mini Flowers and Bright Mini Circles (pink). The papers are all in my stash as scraps and the picture is just from a cartoon website (copyright is printed on image).

I made this card for a my "Birthday" tab in the card box I have been trying to fill up. I am ALWAYS in need of birthday cards so I know that It will help to have a LOT in this tab... if I can keep them stocked (hahahaha).

I will be entering this card into two challenges this week:
1. Design Dollies - Cartoon inspiration (love pink panther!!)
2, Charisma Cardz Challenges - PINK! (think I covered that one! hahaha

Thanks for checking this card out... I REALLY like it!! Though... I may be biased :)

Home Tweet Home

Products Used: Basicgrey Offbeat collection pack, The digital stamp was a freebie I downloaded and the only information I have is 'LDS' - so no real clue where it comes from, the Gringham paper is made by Martine McKnight, and the sentiment was typed in word and printed.

I made this card for my future roomie... she is so excited (as am I) to be moving to VA this coming August. As we get ready to move into our first apartment together we are trying to think of EVERYTHING we may need... without us buying double. Basically we are talking A LOT! hahaha

Here is a close up image of the sentiment I printed. I love this paper! The little poka-dots that are embossed make it so adorable. I bought this paper in many colors from my local craft store. I also added stictching around the stripes I made from my FAVORITE basicgrey line (the offbeat collection pack) and around the sentiment.

Challenges Entered:
Charisma Cards... "Watch the birdie" - My Sentiment, stamp, and the one Basicgrey paper stripe
Friday Sketches... Sketch by Jacque
Basicgrey Challenges... Use of Gringham - You can find the free download and MANY more HERE.
Stamp and Create.com... "Stitching" - Enter up to one a week throughout the entire month!

This card will be placed in the "Friendship" tab of my new box! Which tab will receive a card next...!?!?

"Laughter is the best medicine" & a possible prize!

WOW!!!! It's been WAY to long since I've been able to sit down and create, then blog about it! Sheesh.. well on to the newest creation!

So Sunday I went to NJ to visit with my mommom and hit up a TON of yard sales (trying to furnish my first apartment and kitchen). I found an awesome antique card box with all the dividing tabs still in it (I should have included a picture..darn). I am so excited about this card box that I decided to focus on making cards to put into all the categories - fun right!?

The card I made this go around is for the "sympathy" tab... It's actually my first "get well soon" card :) I even made the card in the shape of a heart!!

Products Used: The stamp is from Karen's Doodles - check out her blog!! She has some AMAZING things...and this one was a freebie!, The tiny flowers come from a bag of flowers in my stash, the ribbon is Celebrate It's Holiday collection, The sentiment comes from Marcella by K, and I finished off the flowers with pearls by Recollections. All the paper are from scrap packs you can get at Michael's.

Here is a close up of the digi from Karen's Doodles. I painted the image with simple water color paints I had in my stash. The cute little mouse sharing the flower seemed so girly and cheery!!

I've also included a close up of the ribbon and flowers so you could see the pearls better. The pearls really added an elegant look to the simple flower :)

The green and pink papers got a little covered up but the pink is covered in sparkly swirls and the green paper is embossed with flowers (I didn't do the embossing myself - I'm very new to embossing and they wouldn't have looked NEARLY as clean cut hahaha).

Challenges Entered:
Totally Papercrafts... Pearls and Swirls - I used swirly paper and added pearls to the flowers
Some Odd Girl... "Shapes" - Make a card that's not square or rectangle - Mine's a heart!
Crafty Sentiments Digital Designs... Color Inspiration - I had to use the "white, pink, and lime green" color pallet - I think I did pretty well :)
Stamp Something... Recipe: 1 flower, 1 paper, 1 ribbon - At least one of each!
All Sorts... July Love - Have a heart - I made the card shape a heart, hehehe
Crafty Sentiments... 2 papers - I have the swirly pink and the embossed green
